Consular and embassy legalization
If a document will be used in a country that is not party to the Hague Apostille Convention, it must go through consular legalization. It is a multi-step procedure, and each embassy applies its own requirements. We organise the whole chain, from the first stamp to the last.
Typical legalization sequence
- Where needed, notarisation of a copy or translation
- Certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country
- Legalization by the embassy or consulate of the destination country
- In some cases, a final certification by the destination country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
When consular legalization is needed
Consular legalization is required for documents used in countries that do not recognise the apostille, such as the United Arab Emirates or Qatar. Typical documents include employment contracts, diplomas, company documents, certificates and powers of attorney.

Each embassy or consulate sets its own procedure: translation language, application forms, consular fees and opening hours. We check the current requirements before submitting. If the destination country has no mission in Lithuania, we arrange legalization through its embassy accredited to Lithuania from another country.
