An apostille is the simplified way to legalize documents between states that are party to the 1961 Hague Convention. It certifies the signature, the seal and the capacity of the person who signed, so the document is recognised in another Convention country without further legalization.

The order depends on the country where the document will be used. Some authorities accept a translation with the apostille on the original; others require an apostille on the notarised translation as well. We check the requirements first and propose the shortest route.

What is the difference between an apostille and consular legalization?
An apostille is a single certificate valid in all Hague Convention countries. If a country is not a party to the Convention, consular legalization is needed instead, which involves several steps including certification by that country's embassy or consulate.
Do I need an apostille within the EU?
Under Regulation (EU) 2016/1191, certain public documents such as birth or marriage certificates no longer need an apostille between EU member states. This does not cover every document or every situation, so it is worth checking first.
How long does an apostille take?
It depends on the type of document and the authority that issues the apostille. We state the exact turnaround in our quote.
Can you apostille a document issued abroad?
Only an authority of the issuing country can apostille a document. Through our international partners we arrange apostilles in many countries.
